Surigao city undergoes SGLG 2023 National Validation

Surigao City Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II and Vice Mayor Alfonso S. Casurra extended a warm welcome to the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) National Validation Team, headed by Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe, accompanied by Local Government Operations Officer VI Jhonel M. Añavesa and Local Government Operations Officer III Art Robin M. Nagpacan from Region 8 Eastern Visayas.

Surigao City has proudly secured a place on the shortlist of local government units (LGUs) in the Philippines for the prestigious SGLG 2023 Award after passing the regional-level assessment.

This accolade, bestowed by the Department of Interior and Local Government, recognizes LGUs for their outstanding practices in good local governance.

Various offices within the City Government will present their documentation, focusing on the following 10 key areas of governance: 1) Financial Administration and Sustainability; (2) Disaster Preparedness, (3) Social Protection and Sensitivity; (4) Health Compliance and Responsiveness; (5) Sustainable Education, (6) Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; (7) Safety, Peace and Order; (8 ) Environmental Management, (9) Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts; and (10) Youth Development.

To earn the coveted SGLG recognition, a local government unit must successfully navigate and excel in all 10 governance domains.

It’s worth noting that the City Government of Surigao earned the Seal of Good Local Governance in 2022, a testament to its dedication to upholding the highest standards of governance and public service.
