In celebration of World Tourism Day, the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office took the lead in organizing a significant Coastal Cleanup drive earlier today, September 27, 2023.

The cleanup efforts were concentrated in Brgy. Ipil and Brgy. Mabua, two picturesque locations renowned for their crystal-clear waters and the rocky shoreline.

Various stakeholders also joined in the initiative, including the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard Surigao del Norte Station, Surigao City Philippine National Police, as well as students and teachers from Ipil National High School. Local officials from both barangays also joined hands to support this cause.

Brgy. Ipil and Brgy. Mabua is home to world-class beaches. These coastal gems, characterized by their pristine beauty, required special attention to preserve their natural splendor.

A total of 120 sacks, equivalent to 300 kilograms of waste, was meticulously collected during the cleanup operation. This impressive achievement underscores the community’s commitment to responsible and eco-friendly practices.

Maintaining responsible and environmentally conscious behaviors is paramount, particularly in safeguarding the cleanliness and allure of our coastal areas and oceans.

Through collective efforts like this Coastal Cleanup drive, we exemplify our dedication to the well-being of our community and the preservation of our natural treasures.
