Stabbing incident transpired at Lower Banicapt, Brgy. Galas, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte particularly at Engr. Peter Cortez S & G Compound at 5:00 PM of September 26, 2020. Immediately, PNP personnel of Dipolog City Police Station proceeded to the said place.
Initial investigation disclosed that the victim identified as Roger Gonzalo, 52 years old, single, and a resident of Cogon, Dipolog City, while the suspect identified as Wilbert Barnido Remollo, 29 years old, single, with a postal address of Motibot, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte and stay-in employee (mason) at PG Cortes S & G compound located at Lower Banicapt, Brgy. Galas, Dipolog City.
Further investigation revealed that at around 4:30 PM of same date, the suspect confronted the victim regarding their previous misunderstanding at their bunkhouse. After which, the victim ran and attempted to get a bladed weapon, however, the suspect stabbed him several times.
The victim was then brought to Zamboanga del Norte Medical Hospital by the 911 Rescue-Dipolog City but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician Dr. Miguel Balbuena.
The suspect voluntarily surrendered to Brenda Lapu-Lapu Rodriguez, 48 years old, female, married, employed as a timekeeper at PG Cortes S & G, and a resident of Purok Forever, Brgy. Olingan, Dipolog City who immediately called for police assistance.
Recovered from the possession and control of the suspect was a knife without handle believed to be the weapon he uses in the commission of the crime.
Suspect is now under the temporary custody of Dipolog City Police Station for proper disposition.
