Police personnel of Zamboanga City Police Station 3 and 74th Infantry Battalion of Phil Army were conducting checkpoint at Sitio Malasugat, Brgy. Sangali, Zamboanga City at about 10:20 PM of December 16, 2020. The operation led to the interception and flagged down of one (1) KIA Bonggo with temporary plate no. 0901-0530065 driven by Nasul Salim Y. Baanan, legal age, male, married and a resident of Brgy. San Roque, Zamboanga City loaded with Fifty-three (53) assorted brands of alleged smuggled cigarettes.
Confiscated from his possessions were twenty-one (21) boxes of new merlin, fourteen (14) boxes of Cannon, fifteen (15) boxes of Royal and Three (3) boxes of Ford Cigarettes with no pertinent papers/documents to support his claims.
Further, said alleged smuggled cigarettes are presently under said police station custody and later be turned over to Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.
