Shooting incident transpired at Sitio Marangan, Brgy. Tumitus, Zamboanga City at 8:00 AM of January 3, 2021. The victim was identified as Gabriel Barrera Alberto, 57 years old, male, married while suspect identified as Crisanto Espaltero Delos Reyes, 46 years old, male, married both residents of Sitio Marangan, Brgy. Tumitus, Zamboanga City.
Police personnel of Zamboanga City Police Station 1 proceeded to the aforementioned place of incident and while thereat, said victim was seen lying with gunshot wounds on his chest and body at the residence of his brother identified as Pablo Barrera Alberto.
Initial investigation conducted disclosed that “Pablo Barrera Alberto” and the victim having their conversation at the residence of “Mr. Pablo” and suddenly said suspect arrived at the vicinity with no words or intimidation, he immediately shot the victim using a caliber .45 pistol. Said victim sustained gunshot wounds on his chest and body that causes his instantaneous death, while suspect went home and committed suicide after the commission of the crime by shooting himself using a Caliber .45 Pistol (Remington).
Moreover, said suspect was still alive after he committed suicide and was brought to Lying-In Clinic, Brgy. Vitali, Zamboanga City for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by his attending physician.
Recovered from the place of incident were one-unit Caliber .45 (Remington) with serial number 746118, One-magazine of caliber .45 loaded with three ammunition and one empty shell of Caliber .45.
PNP personnel of Zamboanga City Police Station 1 are still conducting thorough investigation to determine the motive of the crime while both victim and suspect are presently at lying-in clinic, Brgy. Vitali, Zamboanga City for proper disposition.
