Sen. Francis Tolentino provides assistance to indigent Irigueños

The City Government of Iriga, through the Office of the City Social Welfare Development and in collaboration Department of Social Welfare Development RO-V and DSWD Satellite Office, together with the Persons with Disability Affairs Office and City Mayor’s Office spearheaded the initiatives to provide Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) payout on May 2, 2024, at Sports Center, Sta. Cruz Sur, Iriga City.

A total of 600 indigent beneficiaries were identified to receive assistance, ranging from financial aid to essential medical equipment. Among the notable contributions was the provision of six wheelchairs, addressing the mobility needs of those in need within the community.

The funds for this initiative were generously provided by Senator Francis “Tol” Tolentino, who expressed his heartfelt commitment to supporting those facing dire circumstances. In a touching message delivered to the beneficiaries, Senator Tolentino emphasized the importance of solidarity and compassion in times of need, reaffirming his dedication to serving the most vulnerable members of society.

Welcoming Senator Tolentino, Vice Mayor Edsel Dimaiwat extended gratitude for the senator’s unwavering support and dedication to the welfare of the community. He echoed Senator Tolentino’s sentiments, highlighting the significance of collaborative efforts in addressing the needs of individuals facing crises.

This initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of various government offices, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Office (DSWD ROV), DSWD Satellite Office, Office of the City Social Welfare and Development (OCSWD), Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), City Mayor’s Office (CMO), Central Security Unit (CSU), City Health Office (CHO), and Philippine National Police (PNP). Their coordinated approach ensured that assistance reached those who needed it most, reflecting a united commitment to providing support and relief to vulnerable individuals within the community.

Present at the event were City Administrator Atty. Maharlika Ramon Oaferina II, Executive Secretary Jor-el Caayao, Konsi Dandreb Abonite, Konsi Melnan Murallo-Asanza, Konsi Jessie Abonite, Konsi Jeff Tino, Konsi Nikki Lagrimas, and Konsi Boboy Guevara.

Through initiatives like this, Senator Francis Tolentino, alongside dedicated local officials and government agencies, continues to make meaningful strides in uplifting the lives of individuals facing adversity, embodying the spirit of compassion and solidarity that defines a community’s strength.
