A caning factory in Barangay Talisayan, this city has suspended its operation after one of three Taiwanese machine specialist it temporarily employed vomited and complained of upset stomach.
The move by Mega Global Corporation was described by its legal counsel Atty. Girlie Lactao, as a precautionary measure in line with the stringent campaign by the local government against Covid-19.
The one day stoppage of work will also pave way for sanitizing the factory premises and to build confidence of remaining workers that steps are being undertaken to secure the facility against any diseases.
Lactoa explained that the foreigner complained about the food he earlier ate at the canteen.
“Tatlo lang po sila at isa yung sumuka.  After na-serve ng taga canteen yung food, nag complain na sya sa canteen server na sumuka siya dahil sa food,” said Lactao.
She explained that the Taiwanese nationals have no contact with the workers and are being isolated in the factory’s third floor as a precautionary measure against Covid-19.
Lacatao said management is willing to abide by the decision of the City Health Office (CHO) on what to do with the workers.
The Taiwanese workers are machine specialist who arrived recently to help in the manufacture of tin cans.
