On August 15, 2021 around 5:30 PM, a duty desk officer of Claver Municipal Police Station (MPS) received a cellular phone call from Task Force Python that there was a shooting incident that transpired at Taganito High Pressure Acid Leaching (THPAL) Security Barracks in Purok 6, Brgy. Taganito, Claver, Surigao del Norte (SDN).
Upon receipt, personnel of Claver MPS proceeded to the area of incident. The victim was identified as certain MILDON PANGAN BATISTIL, 30 years old, male, single, SCAA of THPAL based at Purok 6, Brgy. Taganito, Claver, SDN and a resident of Brgy. Pananay-an, Placer, SDN.
Suspect was identified as certain LORENZ MIRAL TABLASON, 25 years old, male, single, SCAA of THPAL based at Purok 6, Brgy. Taganito, Claver, SDN with permanent address at Brgy. Kibia, Matalam, North Cotabato.
Initial investigation revealed that suspect and victim was having an argument, when all of a sudden, suspect get his issued firearm and without provocation suspect shot the victim hitting his upper left breast that caused his instantaneous death.
After the incident, suspect voluntarily surrendered to his comrades together with the firearm and was subsequently turned over to the responding personnel of Claver MPS. Motive of the incident was believed to be a long grudge.
Recovered from the crime scene were one (1) pc of empty fired cartridge case of Cal 7.62 mm ammunition, one (1) pc of live Cal. 7.62 mm ammunition and one (1) M14 rifle.
Suspect was informed of his Constitutional Rights and Anti-Torture Law and brought to Claver MPS together with pieces of evidence for proper disposition.
Victim now lies at Mata Funeral Parlor, Brgy. Daywan, Claver, SDN.
