Remains of the Zamboangueño hazing victim, John Matthew Salilig, arrives in Zamboanga city

The remains of hazing victim John Matthew Salilig arrive in Zamboanga city early this morning, March 2.

The PAF’s C295 military aircraft carrying the young Salilig’s remains arrived at the Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB) in Sta. Maria around 7am.

The 24-year-old Salilig was slain during hazing rites conducted by members of the Adamson University chapter of the Tau Gamma Phi Grand Fraternity in Binan City, Laguna, February 18, 2023.

Mayor John Dalipe, who, together with Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja and City Police Director Col. Alex Lorenzo, joined Salilig’s family at the arrival venue, personally expressed his sympathies to the family as he stands in unison with calls demanding accountability from perpetrators of the gruesome crime and justice for John Matthew.

The body was brought to Chapel E La Merced Memorial Homes in Gov. Alvarez where it will lie in state together with the remains of John Matthew’s grandfather, who passed away February 22, 2023.
