Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the city government will reinstitute the Home Quarantine Pass (HQP) system with revisions and reinstall border checkpoints on Sept 3-15, 2020 to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Leonardia said the move is in response to the appeal of the doctors for a break and to seek measures to contain the spread of the disease.
Leonardia, along with city officials, church leaders, business sector representatives, mall managers, and the doctors themselves reached this agreement during a 5-hour meeting this weekend.
The city has breached the 1,000-case mark on COVID-19 after posting its highest single day record of new cases at 131.
The city now has 1,108 cases with 464 recoveries.
It also leads Western Visayas in the number of positive cases.
DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu who was sent here by the President, together with Presidential Assistant to the Visayas Michael Lloyd Dino and Visayas deputy IATF commander Gen. Melquiades Feliciano, said that the formula in Cebu used to bring down the number of COVID cases will be implemented in Bacolod.
