PSA start PhilSys registration in region 9

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) started their Step 1 or registration in region 9 for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

Condrad Sontillano, PSA 9, chief statistical specialist ssid, there are three steps for the PhilSys. Step 1 is the registration, Step 2 gathering and capturing of biometrics, and Step 3 is the issuance of PhilSys number and Identification Cards.

For the registration, data collectors will gather information to household strictly following health protocols. They will gather information such as name, sex, date and place of birth, blood type, address and others.

Step 2, those who registered, their biometrics will be registered such as fingerprints, picture, and the iris scan.

The last step their identification cards will now be released with corresponding number.

According to Sontillano, the government is prioritizing those barangays with the most reported number of low income families and those with out internet access.

For the registration, all will be included to include those below five years old and senior citizens.

Region IX has 144 Data Collectors. For Zamboanga City 35, Zamboanga Del Norte 41, Zamboanga Del Sur 41, and Zamboanga Sibugay 27.

He said, this round of Step 1 is a tablet-based and will last until March 2021. However, there will also be online Step 1 registration that will follow, especially for those among us with Internet access.

For those who does not know their blood type, data collectors were intructed to indicate unknown. Later on, if the blood type is known, they can just update the database.
