The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) have already registered 267,878 individuals in region 9 for its Step 2 registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) for the period of July 12 to September 11, 2021
Condrad Sontillano, PSA 9 chief statistical specialist, said for Zamboanga City they registered 65,525, Zamboanga Del Norte has 90,560, Zamboanga Del Sur has 71,707, Zamboanga Sibugay has 40,086 with the total of 267,878 registered for region 9.
The office is targeting to register a total of 2,058,878 for step 2 in region 9 as follows: Zamboanga City is 591,286, Zamboanga del Norte is 497,640, Zamboanga del Sur is 693,430, and Zamboanga Sibugay is 276,522.
He said “Despite the pandemic and while following health protocols, we have managed to register that many and there are still many people inquiring and wanting to register to have their very own Philippine ID.”
For Step 2, photos, iris scan, and fingerprints will be taken. This can be done by appointment at SM Mindpro, PSA Office
Sontillano explained after step two, there are still processes that takes place at the central office to ensure that there are no duplicate requests by the same person and the ID itself, being provided by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, once ready is directly delivered to the registrant by the Philippine Postal Corporation.
The final Step, Step 3 is the issuance of PhilSys number and Identification Cards. These registered are now waiting for the delivery of their identification card.

Republic Act 11055 known as the Philippine Identification System Act. It is an act establishing a single national identification system that aims to provide a valid proof of identity for Filipino Citizens.
