Shooting Incident
A shooting incident transpired at Sitio Kumpayan, Barangay Dapiwak, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur at 4:30 PM of August 2, 2021. Victim was identified as Efren Bonita Medina, 24 years old, male, CAFGU (Civilian Armed Force Geographical Unit) assigned at 97th IB, male, and a resident of Purok 3, Sitio Kumpayan Dapiwak, Zamboanga del Sur. He was allegedly shot by unidentified suspects. Investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, the victim along with his father were having a drinking session at the house of a certain Ed Batoy when three unidentified suspects arrived thereat. The suspects were approached by the victim but he was suddenly shot hitting his head and arm which resulted in his instantaneous death. The victim sustained three gunshot wounds on his head and one on his arm, while suspects immediately fled after the incident. Evidence recovered at the crime scene were two (2) pieces cartridge casing of 5.56mm and one piece misfired ammunition. PNP personnel of Dumingag Municipal Police Station conducted thorough investigation to identify, locate, and arrest the fleeing suspects as well as to determine the motive of the incident.
Hacking Incident
A hacking Incident transpired at Purok Malambuon, Bulatok, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur at 7:30 AM of August 2, 2021. The victim was identified as Geronimo Estonanto Gaco aka Emong, 76 years old, male, widow, farmer, and a resident of Purok Malambuon, Bulatok, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur while suspect was identified as Ian Lumeo Lawan, male, 30 years old, single, and a resident of Purok Manga, Tuburan, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur. Investigation disclosed that at about 11:20 AM of same date, Gino Recto Gaco (son of the victim) while at his residence situated at Purok Manga, Tuburan, Pagadian City, was approached by his niece and informed him that she saw her grandfather (victim) lying on the ground outside his residence bathed in blood. After hearing the report, Gino Recto Gaco immediately went to the residence of his father and there he saw his father with multiple stab wounds in different part of his body and was already dead. Afterwards, Gino Recto Gaco immediately verified the direction where the suspect reportedly escaped. While searching, he saw a male person whose name known to him as “Ian” full of blood stains in his shirt and long pants. The suspect ran heading towards Purok Manga, Tuburan, Pagadian City. Gino Recto Gaco seek the assistance of Pagadian City Police Station. The suspect was successfully apprehended by the responding SWAT team. Suspect is now temporarily detained at Pagadian City Police Station. Victim is now temporarily laid at Gamalinda Funeral Homes. Appropriate Case is now being prepared for filing in court.
