Sea Vessel, Razed by Fire in Baliwasan Wharf
A fire incident transpired at Petron Wharf, Baliwasan Seaside, Barangay Baliwasan, Zamboanga City at 10:20 PM of April 16, 2021 wherein MV Saidamae owned by a certain Hji. Salam, loaded with 150 drums of gasoline, exploded due to a mechanical malfunction while docked at said wharf. Personnel of Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Zamboanga City Police Station 11, 1st and 2nd Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company together with BFP personnel and other rescue units proceeded to the place of incident. Investigation revealed that when the mechanic Mauar Najar Hamimon switched on the engine of said vessel, it suddenly ignited and exploded. As a result, said ship was razed by fire. The mechanic and captain of the ship, Jilam Madda sustained serious injuries and were brought to Brent Hospital for treatment while Jilam Madda (Captain) and Jupakal Ahamad (crew) were brought to Zamboanga City Medical Center. Moreover, Benhar Idani (Assistant Captain) and Almujil Sabital (crew) were brought to Zamboanga City Police Station 11 for further investigation while Mujib Andam and certain “Rene” are still missing. BFP personnel were able to put out fire at about 6:35 AM of April 17, 2021 and will continue their fire scene processing. Moreover, one suspected burned body was seen in front of the burned ship. Estimated cost of damage amounted to ₱ 2,000,000.00.
Barangay Councilor Shot by an Unidentified Suspect in Mabuhay
A shooting incident transpired at Purok 2, Barangay Sioton Mabuhay, Zamboanga Sibugay at 9:10 AM of April 16, 2021. Victim was identified as Ronald Olibo Momo, 49 years old, married, barangay councilor of Barangay Sioton, Mabuhay, Zamboanga Sibugay while suspect is unidentified. Investigation revealed that prior to the incident, the victim was walking towards Barangay Kasigpitan, Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay when an unidentified suspect shot the victim at the back. Victim sustained gunshot wound on his right shoulder and was brought to Bateria Hospital for treatment. The suspect fled towards Barangay Punawan, Mabuhay Zamboanga Sibugay. Immediately, elements of Mabuhay Municipal Police Station together with 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company and 44th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army conducted follow-up operation for the arrest of the suspect.
Gang Member Arrested in a Drug Buy-Bust Operation in Ipil
Joint personnel of Ipil Municipal Drug Enforcement Team 2nd Zamboanga Sibugay provincial Mobile Force Company and Provincial Intelligence Unit conducted buy-bust operation at Purok Marang, Barangay Tenan, Ipil Zamboanga Sibugay at 7:42 PM of April 16, 2021. The operation resulted in the arrest of Ajijomar Cadil Wahab, criminal gang member under Barahama Ali Group, 31 years old, married, farmer, high school level, and a resident of Purok Marang, Barangay Tenan, Ipil Zamboanga Sibugay. Confiscated items during the operation were two (2) sachets of suspected Shabu (buy-bust item) with estimated weight of 0.125 grams and with value amounting to ₱ 1,000.00, two (2) pieces medium sachets of suspected Shabu with estimated weight of 2.125 grams and with value amounting to ₱ 17,000.00, five (5) pieces one hundred (₱ 100) peso bill, one (1) piece five hundred (₱ 500) peso bill and one (1) piece green lighter. He is now under the custody of Ipil Municipal Police Station while confiscated illegal drugs were turned over to Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for examination.
Stabbing Incident
A stabbing incident transpired at Purok 2, Barangay Acad, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur 10:00 AM of April 16, 2021. Victim was identified as Elma Rose Ruiles Ceniza, 31 years old, married, housewife, and a resident of Purok 2, Barangay Acad, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur while the suspect was identified as Benjamin Entera a.k.a. Amin, 49 years old, widower, and a resident of Purok 2, Barangay Acad, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur. Investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, the victim was at a garden in front of her house when the suspect arrived and suddenly stabbed the victim on her right breast and stomach. Victim was rushed to Ace Hospital, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur for treatment, while the suspect voluntarily surrendered after the incident to the Barangay Official/Kagawad of Agad, Aurora Municipality. The motive of the incident is believed to be personal grudge. The suspect is now temporarily detained at Aurora Municipal Police Station while appropriate case for frustrated murder is now being prepared for filing in court.
Man Arrested in a Drug Buy-Bust Operation in Ayala
Station Drug Enforcement Team of Zamboanga City Police Station 10 conducted drug buy-bust operation at Country Homes, Phase-2, Barangay Ayala, Zamboanga City at 7:40 PM of April 16, 2021. The resulted to the arrest of Anjo Rey Basilio y Hipolito, 21 years old, male, single, unemployed, K-12 graduate, resident of Country Homes, Phase-2, Barangay Ayala, Zamboanga City. Recovered from his possession were Six (6) heat sealed plastic sachets of suspected Shabu with an estimated value of ₱ 3,700 weighing 0.54 gram, one (1) black pouch and one (1) bill of ₱ 200.00 as marked money. He is now under the custody of the said police station in preparation of filing of appropriate charges in court. All recovered items will be brought to Zamboanga City Crime Laboratory Office for examination.
Woman Arrested in a Drug Buy-Bust Operation in Campo Islam
Station Drug Enforcement Team of Zamboanga City Police Station 7 conducted a buy-bust operation on illegal drugs at Barangay Campo Islam, Zamboanga City at 10:30 PM of April 16, 2021. The operation resulted in the arrest of Eftehar Talib y Abdulmajid, 37 years old, female, married, jobless, college undergraduate, and a resident of Campo Islam, Zamboanga City. Recovered from her possession were two (2) heat sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of ₱ 251,600.00 weighing 37 grams, one (1) red coin purse and one (1) bill of ₱ 500.00 as marked money. She is now under the custody of the said police station in preparation of filing of appropriate charges in court. All recovered items will be brought to Zamboanga City Crime Laboratory Office for examination.
Woman Arrested in a Drug Buy-Bust Operation in Ayala
Station Drug Enforcement Team of Zamboanga City Police Station 11 conducted drug buy-bust operation at Barangay Ayala, Zamboanga City at 1:30 PM of April 16, 2021. The operation resulted in the arrest of Rosenda Balanay y Rabutan, 43 years old, female, married, high school level, unemployed, and resident of Barangay Ayala, Zamboanga City. Recovered from her possession were one (1) jewelry box, six (6) heat sealed plastic sachets of suspected Shabu with an estimated value of ₱ 17,000.00 weighing 2.5 grams and one (1) bill of ₱ 200.00 as marked money. Subject person is now under the custody of the said police station in preparation of filing of appropriate charges in court. All recovered items will be brought to Zamboanga City Crime Laboratory Office for examination.
