12Davao del Norte: Police assignment to barangays will be good for their health while on mission to deter resurgent of insurgency in far-flung areas.
Representing Philippine National Police (PNP) XI Regional Director Police Brigadier General Filmore Escobal, Police Col Allan Okubo delivered this line of inspiration during this morning’s send-off ceremony of 11 commissioned police and 40 non-commissioned police deployed to the barangays of Palma Gil, Dagohoy and Sto Nino of the municipality of Talaingod.
“It will be good for your health, for your heart and for your legs,” he said as he expected them to be back in much better body shape after four months on mission as contingent of the Revitalized Barangay Police (RBP) deployed in line with the strengthened implementation of Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) in insurgency-vulnerable barangays.
The police hierarchy expected the RBP to “sustain the gains” of the military force which had gone ahead to clear the areas to where the RBPs are deployed.
The RBPs are also expected to “prevent resurgent of insurgency” a situation which Okubo recalled to have often happened in the past due to absence of sustained presence of government authorities when the military forced pulled out after its operation.
They are also tasked to insulate areas unaffected by “insurgency” while acting as liaisons of government agencies which intend to bring in projects to their area of assignment.
While they keep in mind these primary tasks, Okubo reminded them of their mission to create a substantial contribution to the overall object of “developing conflict-resilient and development-ready communities”.
Okubo was just emphasizing the appeals of 1003rd Inf Brigade commander, Col Nolasco Mempin whose command covers the entire municipality of Talaingod.
Aside from Mempin, the send-off ceremony was also attended by Davao del Norte 1st District Representative Pantaleon Alvarez, Davao del Norte Provincial Governor Edwin I. Jubahib, municipal and barangay officials in the Municipality of Talaingod and police officials of the Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office.
