PHL logs 22,820 Covid cases on Thursday, a new daily record


The Philippines broke its highest daily Covid-19 cases recorded since the start if the pandemic after logging 22, 820 additional cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 2,161,892.

As of 8:30 p.m. of September 9, the Department of Health (DOH) also recorded
12,337 recoveries and 61 deaths.

Of the total number of infections, 7.7 percent (166,672) are active, 90.7 percent (1,960,487) have recovered, and 1.61 percent (34,733) have died.

There were 108 duplicates removed from the total case count. Of these, 96 are recoveries.

Moreover, 29 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

All laboratories were operational on September 7, 2021 but 5 labs were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

Based on data in the last 14 days, the 5 non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 2.3 percent of samples tested and 2.6 percent of positive individuals.
