Coast Guard District North Eastern Mindanao is now One Hundred Percent (100%) Operational Status of all its thirty two (32) lighthouses in the whole area of Caraga Region. Together with Maritime Safety Services Unit – Northeastern Mindanao and different Coast Guard Stations and Sub-Stations in the region, Coast Guard District Northeastern Mindanao under the stern guidance and supervision of CG COMMO LUISITO S SIBAYAN was able to repair fourteen (14) and maintain eighteen(18) lighthouses bringing 100% operational status of all its lighthouses in the whole area of Caraga Region as of June 2021.
Said lighthouses serve as reference and Aids to Navigation of all boat and vessels transiting in the area and also of great use to fishermen fishing especially during night time.
Under Republic Act 9993 or “The Coast Guard Law of 2009”, repair and maintenance of all Aids to Navigation is still under the maritime safety function of the PCG.
