Zamboangueno Olympic medalists Hidilyn Diaz and Eumir Marcial arrived in Zamboanga City this afternoon after their historic win in the Tokyo Olympics last July. They flew in via an Air Force plane that landed at the Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB) 1pm today and were welcomed by District I Cong. Jawo Jimenez and Councilor Pinpin Pareja and EAAB officials.
Gold medalist Diaz is a staff sergeant while bronze medalist Marcial is a sergeant and both serve under the Philippine Air Force Civil Military Operations Group.
The City Government rolled out a grand heroes’ welcome for Diaz and Marcial, albeit strict compliance of COVID-19 protocols.
