NPA Faces Raps Over Heavy Equipment Burning In Surigao Del Norte

Camp Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez, Butuan City – Police already filed destructive arson and violation of RA No. 9851 (Crimes against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide and other Crimes against Humanity) charges against the New People’s Army (NPA) who torched heavy equipment in Claver town, Surigao del Norte last July 15, 2021.

PNP Caraga Director POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M. CARAMAT, JR. said that the cases were received by the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor, Surigao City on August 3, 2021 docketed under NPS No.XIII-06-INV-21H-216.

Indicted were a.k.a “Edroy”; a.k.a “Leon”; a.k.a “Jacob”; a.k.a “Menchie”; a.k.a “Cloud”; a.k.a “James”; a.k.a “Beboy”; a.k.a “Alex”; a.k.a “Rifle”; a.k.a “Ma”; and all NPA members under Guerrilla Front 16C1 Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda 16C of North-eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC).

The assailants were responsible for the burning of six backhoes owned by Konstruct Development Inc, a contractor of Platinum Groups of Metals Corporation (PGMC) leaving an estimated cost of damage of ₱ 50,000,000.00.

“We thank the public for their support and cooperation during the investigation that led to the successful filing of charges against the NPA terrorists. This development will speed up our anti-insurgency efforts particularly on the legal aspect,” RD CARAMAT, JR. stressed out.

He also reminded the police force to be extra cautious and alert in dealing with everyday police works, particularly in high-risk municipal police stations.
