Colonel Romy Palgue, Director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), tested negative for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

This was confirmed by Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, NOCPPO’s Deputy Public Information Officer, based on the results of the swab test released yesterday.

Donasco said all police chiefs in the province were also directed to undergo swab tests while on self-isolation.

These policemen were isolated after they were exposed to a COVID-19 positive case when they attended a drug summit here last week, although they had no direct contact to the infected patient.

The said COVID case was a female official of the Department of Interior and Local Government Unit (DILG) from Iloilo.

Donasco said that police chiefs are still on isolation, pending the results of their swab tests.

Meanwhile, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and three other officers of the Department of Interior and Local Government in the province tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.

Lacson earlier placed himself on isolation after being exposed to a DILG officer from Iloilo who tested positive of the virus. The officer was here last week for the Anti-Drug Summit.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said the swab test result on the governor taken Tuesday was released Wednesday evening.

Aside from the governor, three other officials who were sitting beside him during the activity also tested negative.

A recent report indicated that the three officials are DILG Negros Occidental OIC Roselyn Quintana, Assistant Regional Maria Calpiza Sardua, and Liga Barangay President and Provincial Board Member Juvy Pepello. (Glazyl Masculino and Dolly Yasa via tdg, photo by tdg)
