MOMMY Caring blasted out of the gate and never looked back to rule the Philippine Racing Commission (Philracom) Lakambini Stakes during the Klub Don Juan de Manila Racing Festival at the San Lazaro Business and Leisure Park on Sunday.

James Anthony Rabano’s prized possession bred by the Esguerra Farms and Stud clocked one minute and 43.20 seconds in the 1600-meter race with clips of 24-24-25-30.

The victory gave the three-year-old bay filly’s connections (Rabano, Trainer Ramon Nartea and Jockey Lester F. de Jesus) the P1.2-million top prize.

She is unbeaten so far.

La Liga Filipina hounded Mommy Caring the whole race but settled for second worth P400,000 with the fast closing Isla Puting Bato coming in third for P200,000.

Rounding out the top five were All too Easy and O Sole Mio. They banked P100,000 and P60,000, respectively.

“This brings great joy to me and my stables as Mommy Caring is named after my mother who recently passed,” Rabano said. “More so, still remaining undefeated after taking the PCSO Maiden Stakes and the Philippine Sportswriters Association Cup.”

Speed Fantasy—ridden by rising star Pabs M. Cabalejo, trained by Norman Cagatin and owned by former basketball player Paolo Medoza—grabbed the Philracom-KDJM Juvenile Stakes in honor of Don Juan Past President Antonio “Tony Boy” Eleazar.
