Davao City – All direct domestic and international flights to and from the Davao International Airport (DIA) will now resume following Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte’s issuance of Executive Order (E.O.) No. 26, Series of 2021 on Wednesday, May 5.
The mayor’s order came after the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) DIA sent on May 4, 2021 a letter, underscoring the need to remove all restrictions on flight operations to allow more economic activities in the civil aviation sector.
“The resumption of all kinds of flights, such as scheduled international flights, unscheduled domestic commercial flights (chartered), and other general aviation flights to and from Davao City is hereby allowed,” Duterte said in her E.O.
The DIA reopened on June 8, 2020 for domestic commercial flights under strict health safety protocols after it was suspended based on the mayor’s Executive Orders No. 12 and 22, Series of 2020.
However, E.O. No. 18, Series of 2020 granted exemption to certain international and domestic air travel to and from Davao City.
In October 2020, direct international flights to and from the DIA were allowed as the City Government of Davao welcomed airline companies to reopen their international operations.
Mayor Duterte also cited Davao City Ordinance No. 0477-21, series of 2021, entitled, “An Order Providing For Mandatory Testing Prior To Entry Into Davao City Via The International Airport,” that mandates all arriving travelers to present an RT-PCR negative result before entry to the city.
She said E.O. 26 shall take effect immediately.
