The Local Inter-Agency Committee (LIAC) chaired by Mayor Beng Climaco yesterday resolved to demolish the soonest time possible the illegal structures and annexes at the stilt housing project in Mariki.

The decision was reached during the LIAC meeting yesterday that would pave the way for the installation of power lines and poles in the area.

However, the demolition will only be carried out after the joint ocular inspection to be conducted in the area today, according to housing czar Rodrigo Pagotaisidro.

Joining the ocular inspection are representatives of the different project agencies such as the National Housing Authority (NHA), the City Engineer’s Office, the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco), City Housing Division Office, the police and barangay officials of Mariki.

This, after the installation of power lines at the houses on stilts was stopped and delayed as there are illegal structures and housings extensions hampering the work.

Earlier, Mayor Climaco has instructed all agencies participating in the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Rehabilitation (Z3R) to expedite the completion of all projects by August 30, this year.

Meanwhile, the LIAC during its meeting yesterday passed three resolutions aimed at addressing the issues and concerns affecting the Z3R projects.
A resolution was approved allowing the NHA to utilize the remaining P5.4 million to fund for the embankment at the Vicente Chiong Property.

Another resolution authorized NHA to download the P23.184 million to the LGU or the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) to be used for the selected LGU projects that are accommodating Z3R beneficiaries like the Azcuna and Talisayan Resettlement projects.

Likewise, the NHA through a resolution was instructed to turnover to the ZCWD the 1,800 water meters and that the P6.5 million be downloaded to the water firm as a form of subsidy for Z3R applicants for the re-installation of power lines. (Zamboanga City – LGU Public Information Office)
