Davao City – Acting Davao City Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte ordered the mandatory swabbing of close contacts of confirmed coronavirus diseases (COVID-19) positive cases in the city, effective immediately until December 31, 2021.

Vice Mayor Duterte, who is acting mayor from April 6 to 10 as her sister Mayor Inday Sara Duterte

took a leave for health reasons, issued on April 6 Executive Order (E.O.) No. 20, Series of 2021, known as “An Order Providing For Mandatory Swabbing Of All F1, F2, and F3 Contacts Of An RT-PCR Confirmed Positive Case Of COVID-19 In Davao City.”

The acting mayor, in his E.O., said, “There is a need to expand the testing of contacts beyond the F1 category as an attempt to control the transmission of the virus.”

He also cited the need to recalibrate strategies to prevent and control COVID-19 transmission in Davao City amid the surge of cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) and other areas of the country, and also the emergence of new COVID-19 variants.

He mandated all F1, F2, and F3 contacts of an RT-PCR confirmed positive case to undergo swab testing. The date of the testing, however, shall be determined by the Contact Tracing Team or the District Health Office.

E.O. 20 states that F1 contacts are first-generation contacts of an RT-PCR confirmed COVID-19 positive case while F2 contacts are close contacts of F1 and F3 are close contacts of F2.

The E.O. also mandates that all existing laws and ordinances shall be pursued against those who violate its provisions. (City Information Office | Michael Manguhig, RPN DXKT Davao OIC)
