A man cheated death when shooters who pretend to borrow tools when the victim jumped toward the river, in a remote village in Zamboanga City.
Police Regional Spokesman P/Capt. Edwin Duco told RPN DXXX Zamboanga, the shooting incident happened Saturday night around 10:45 PM at Sitio Ducaan, Brgy. Mangusu. The victim, Mr. İgnacio Macalaling Waslo, 48, sustained a gunshot wound in his left belly.
Duco claimed prior to the incident, the victim was resting at his unfinished residence along a river bank, when he heard persons paddling along the river. The unidentified persons asked to lend them an adjustable to be used to repair something in their bangka. As the victim was about to get inside his house to look for the tool, one of the unidentified person told him not to move and suddenly drew a pistol and shot the victim.
Victim jumped over the river after being shot once. However, three (3) male suspects tried to chase him and fired another two (2) shots but failed to hit the victim, Duco added.
Suspects then sped away to an unknown direction on board the motorize boat.
