Cagdianao, Claver, Surigao Del Norte – Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation (THPAL) in partnership with Claver Municipal Police Station, Claver Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the 30th Infantry Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Barangay Local Government Unit of Cagdianao successfully conducted the Mamanwa Bataon (Tanod) Skills Development Training for the Indigenous People of Taganito last May 3 – 5, 2021 at the Cagdianao Training Center. This was participated by 44 participants including tribal chieftain mabalaw Reynante Boklas.
On the first day, the Claver Municipal Police Station discussed highlights of the Republic Act 11479 more commonly known as the Anti – Terror Act of 2020 including its implementing rules and regulations. On the second day, Claver Fire Station conducted basic fire fighting skills which underlined topics relating to LPG tank fire dispersal, the use of fire extinguisher and community bucket relay in an event of a fire. On the last day, members of the AFP taught trainees on basic close quarters combat and arnis.
Tribal chieftain mabalaw Boklas expressed his gratitude to the support extended by THPAL and all stakeholders involved as this would be beneficial in safeguarding the community and maintaining peace and order among his constituents. He is hoping that THPAL will continue to conduct more activities that will help in the development of the Mamanwa. (RPN DXKS Surigao)
