Davao City – The 126 Davao City Barangay Health Workers (BHW) and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) of Baguio and Agdao districts received various basic medical apparatus donated by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Philippines through the Balik-Alay Foundation of Davao Doctors Hospital.

The donated items consist of the Baxtel Aneroid Sphygmomanometers with Stethoscopes, small first aid kits, umbrellas, nebulizers, weighing scale with height measurement (platform type), and big first aid kits. Part of the donated items are three (3) breast pumps intended for Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

These were received by City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte in a handover ceremony. Mayor Sara thanked the BHWs and BNS for their hard work and working in the front line in their respective barangays in the fight against Covid-19.

“We hope that these donations will inspire and empower you, our healthcare workers and nutrition scholars, even more, for it is the combination of both your expertise and your access to the necessary apparatus that will enable you to effectively perform your duty of bringing the government’s health services to Dabawenyos,” she said.

The BHS and BNS also received gift certificates and grocery items from the City Mayor’s Office.

The success of the donation and its citywide distribution was through the efforts of Davao City Investment and Promotion Center (DCIPC) led by its chief April Marie Dayap.

Dayap said a total of 3,214 BHWs and BNS from all the 182 barangays are also set to receive the donated items, gift certificate, and grocery items from the CMO.

Present during the distribution were 3rd District Councilor Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz, 2nd District Councilor Jonard Dayap, Chief-of-Staff of Councilor Antoinette Principe, Melba G. Principe, City Health Officer Dr. Ashley Lopez, and Brgy. Captains and Kagawads of the beneficiary barangays.
