Local Government Unit Rolls Out 2nd Round Of Food Rationing

Davao City:  The Davao City government has rolled out its second round of food rationing with 197,100 grocery packs distributed in 75 barangays in the city.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is expected to continue distributing food packs in the coming days to cover the city’s 182 barangays. During the first round, the CSWDO distributed a total of 428,571 grocery packs in all barangays.

On the other hand, the City Agriculturist Office and the City Veterinarian’s Office (Agri-Vet), which have been distributing fresh produce to the different villages in the city, already covered a total of 36,483 beneficiaries since April 2.

Since April 2, the Agri-Vet distributed 34,876 kilos of fish and 19,540 kilos of chicken and pork, targeting those in economically depressed areas.

Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte said the Agri-Vet are supporting CSWDO’s food ration by giving vegetables, pork, chicken, fish, milk, and other fresh products to Dabawenyos who have not received food ration.

“Nagasuporta ni sila sa trabaho sa CSWDO by making sure nga katong dili mahatagan og grocery packs, mahatagan sila’g fresh produce na mga pagkaon na manok, baboy, ug gulay (They are supporting the CSWDO by making sure that those who were not given grocery packs will be given fresh produce of food like chicken, pork, and vegetables),” she said.

Distribution of fresh produce continued on April 22, when Agri-Vet also distributed 1,000 liters of milk in Dumoy and 3,000 liters in Barangay Tigatto while Barangay Cabantian received 750 kilos of pork. And, on April 23, Barangay Tigatto also benefited 500 kilos of pork, salt, and 240 liters of cooking oil.

Mayor Sara also said the bulk of the chicken and pork supplies was donated by the private sector. CIO
