Koronadal City, South Cotabato – More than 6,000 households in Surallah will soon receive financial assistance from their local government unit, a municipal official announced Tuesday.

Vice Mayor Pinky Divinagracia told local media in an interview that 6,021 households will receive β‚± 3,000 each as beneficiaries of the local Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

β€œIn its initiative, LGU Surallah identified households that had not received either SAP from the national government or TUPAD (Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers) from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE),” Vice Mayor Divinagracia said.

This list of beneficiaries came from barangay councils and underwent thorough scrutiny to cull out those that have gained from SAP and TUPAD aids related to the coronavirus disease pandemic.

Included in the beneficiaries are heads of middle class families, government employees, job order employees and other household heads regardless of social status who have also been affected by the pandemic.

She noted further that only a few indigenous and indigent families are included in the local SAP version since most these families were catered in the national government-initiated assistance programs.

LGU Surallah has allotted β‚± 18 million for this purpose.

Divinagracia said the municipal council re-aligned some expenditure items to fund the local SAP, which may be released beginning next week.
