ADAMSON University needed only 63 minutes to beat University of the East (UE), 25-19, 25-9, 25-5, to open hostilities in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday.

The Lady Falcons returned in the second set with more firepower after a tight first set that saw them finish strong with Lucille Almonte at the forefront to turn a close 20-18 lead to a 25-19 win.

Adamson University dominated UE with 12 straight points that blew the game wide open, 17-3, to win the second set running away, 25-9. The Lady Falcons transformed the second set into a mere walk in the park.

“Good game for us to get playing time for all the players,” Lady Falcons head coach Jerry Yee said. “Hopefully, we can sustain our form.”

Almonte led the Falcons with 12 points built on 10 attacks with eight excellent digs, while Trisha Tubu had 11 points in her debut.

Ayesha Juegos and Kate Santiago got seven points apiece while middle blocker Lorene Toring had five points.

The Lady Falcons dominated all departments—spiking (39-24), blocking (9-1) and service (4-0).

UE committed 23 errors with Ja Lana and KC Cepada producing seven points each.
