Isko Moreno, Doc Willie both test negative for drugs

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso and Dr. Willie Ong both tested negative for drugs Thursday after voluntary submitting themselves at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) headquarters in Quezon City “in the interest of public service in the highest order.”

On an ambush interview outside the PDEA office, Moreno said taking the drug test is his way of showing support the current administration’s war on drugs.

“Ito rin ay isang maliit naming kaparaanan ni Doc Willie na sinusuportahan ang war on drugs ng ating Pangulong Duterte being a candidate. At kung sakali, may awa ang Diyos, sa tulong ninyo, itutuloy natin yung war on drugs,” Moreno said.

In separate PDEA chemistry reports, the Aksyon Demokratiko presidential candidate and his running mate tested both negative for cocaine, shabu, marijuana and ecstacy.

Moreno said he voluntary submitted himself to the drug test because “the people of our country need to know and deserve to know” if the presidential candidates have the moral ascendancy to fight the menace of illegal drugs.

“Pag ikaw ay naging president at ang isang mabigat na prolema ng lipunan ay droga, then how can you go against those illegal substances whe you youself is a user. You so not have moral ascendancy,” the Aksyon Demokratiko president said.

As for his choice of testing venue, Moreno said he chose PDEA because it is the proper forum for drug testing.

“There is a right and proper agency fighting against drugs. They have proper scientific ways of finding out whether a person is a user or not. Ito ang tama. Kung lumalaban tayo sa droga, at ang pangunahing agency ay ang PDEA, we should continue to recognize the agency as the proper forum to submit ourselves to drug testing,” Moreno said.

“This is also one way of submitting ourselves to the proper agencies of government,” he said.

Moreno said submitting himself to drug testing is also a way to show the people that a presidential candidate should be accorded the same standard as that of ordinary folks.

“Bakit ang ordinaryong tao, nire-require natin i-test kapag sila’y suspected? Bakit kapag kandidato sa Presidente at mayaman, di na pwede sa PDEA? Parang double standard tayo,” said Moreno.
