Isabela City – The city government of Isabela, Basilan will soon to have its clinical laboratory to strengthen its mass testing operations as a response against the pandemic caused by the COVID-19.

Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman convened on Tuesday the representatives from the City Engineers Office, City Health Office and a private contractor agency and discussed the final phase of the Isabela City Clinical Laboratory followed by a quick site visit at the East Terminal in Barangay Sunrise.

The healthcare facility shall promptly provide a wide range of laboratory procedures which will aid physician diagnosis in the treatment and management of patients in the city. This will also provide citizens a good testing capability of the specimens collected due for COVID19 testing apart from the regular runs and tests conducted.

To date, specimen collection relative to COVID-19 detection are conducted by the city health office swab teams and some private hospitals and facilities here and sent to Zamboanga City accredited COVID-19 laboratories.

Last year, a Genexpert testing machine has been donated by Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) to the city prompting the local government to construct the laboratory.

The construction of the clinical laboratory began last quarter of 2020 in line with Mayor Hataman’s top point agenda prioritizing health, education, and well-being as well as care for the vulnerable members of the society.
