A flag-raising ceremony spearheaded by the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), led by Mrs. Quenie Marie April Aurellano-Gonzales and Officer-In-Charge Lordan Navales, marked the celebration of the 2024 International Youth Day, National Youth Day, and Linggo ng Kabataan. The event, themed “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” with active participation from the SK Federation, headed by Hon. Dessa Mare P. Lontayao, along with the 36 Barangays SK Presidents and Hon. Michael Samarita.
In his speech, Vice Mayor Edsel S. Dimaiwat commended the youth for their contributions and dedication to the community. Mayor Rex C. Oliva, quoting Dr. Jose Rizal, emphasized that “the youth is the hope of the motherland” and praised the legislative department for their unwavering dedication to creating resolutions for the youth of Iriga City. He also acknowledged the efforts of the LYDO and the youth organizations for their active participation in fostering sustainable development.
The ceremony was attended by several key officials, including Kgwd. Melnan Murallo-Asanza, Kgwd. Jesse Abonite, Kgwd. Nikki Lagrimas, Kgwd. Jeff Tino and Executive Secretary Jor-el Caayao all showed their support for the youth and the ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing youth engagement and development in the city.
