Iriga: Tinangis Penal Farm joins in the celebration of National Women’s Month 2024

The Camarines Sur Provincial Jail and Penal Farm partners with the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur in their celebration of National Women’s Month yesterday, March 25, 2024, at the Tinangis Penal Farm among its persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

An inclusive and activity-packed day was supervised and facilitated by the focal persons for the Gender and Development (GAD) of the Provincial Government. The day started with a Zumba dance by CamSur’s GAD, prison guards, female PDLs, and ALS students.

The CamSur PESO, in coordination with the TESDA, led a livelihood training program on rug making participated in by 40 female and 10 male PDLs. According to the PDLs, livelihood training is truly beneficial as learning new skills is always a big help so that they may have another way of making income for their families.

Simultaneously, over a hundred PDLs attended the seminar facilitated by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO-Camarines Sur). Aiming to empower women by keeping them well-informed and to shed light on laws protecting women, the social workers discussed the Republic Act (RA) 9710, otherwise known as the Magna Carta of Women (MCW), RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children, and RA 6725, otherwise known as an Act Strengthening the Prohibition on Discrimination Against Women with Respect to Terms and Conditions of Employment.

More so, trainees of the ProviCare Training Center extended their service by conducting free vital signs checking and blood pressure tests among the PDLs, prison guards, and program facilitators.

A donation of clothes, slippers, hygiene kits, and rice from the Capitol employees was also given to the PDLs.

The Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, through the leadership of Gov Luigi Villafuerte, remains consistent and committed in its work of helping and including every Camarinenses in the province’s projects, programs, and activities (PPAs).
