Iriga: RD Vera retires, leaves 36-year legacy in DOH

In a surprise send-off on December 29, 2023, the whole DOH Bicol CHD family gathered together at the Healthy Lifestyle Complex to pay tribute to Regional Director Ernie V. Vera’s 36 years in service to public health.

“It is entirely different and fulfilling when you know you are serving for your people, for the Bicolano community. I am happy to have done all of this as I want to uplift all of you to continue our service,” said RD Vera.

Along the way, RD Vera has led significant contributions in all aspects of public health. He has made remarkable friendships within and beyond the Department and helped forge lasting partnerships among the various organizations.

Dr. Ernie V. Vera started his work in DOH Bicol CHD as OIC-Director III in the year 2016. In no less than a year, he was appointed as a full-pledged Director III, and later on as Director IV. He was Division Chief of the National Center for Disease Prevention for 16 years. He also worked for 8 years as Medical Specialist (1-IV) at the DOH Central Office handling the Tuberculosis Program.

The DOH Bicol CHD is honored to have had you as a leader, an advocate, and an advocate during your wonderful stay. We wish you many more prosperous years ahead, as you soar high in a new landscape of your life.
