In a continuous effort to engage the youth in fostering a safer and more peaceful community, the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) officially launched the Kabataan Kontra Kriminalidad (KKK) program at the orsogon National Government Center, Main Function Hall, Capitol Compound, Sorsogon City. The program was first introduced at the Sorsogon Police Provincial Office (PPO) and was personally attended by PBGEN ANDRE P. DIZON, Regional Director of PRO5, along with PCOL ROGELYN PERATERO, Assistant Chief of the Regional Community Affairs and Development Division (RCADD), and PCOL ALEX DANIEL, Provincial Director of Sorsogon PPO. The event gathered a total of 200 participants, including members of the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT), out-of-school youth, Muslim youth, and Indigenous Peoples (IP) youth.
The Kabataan Kontra Kriminalidad (KKK) program is a proactive initiative designed to involve the youth in crime prevention efforts. It aims to foster a sense of responsibility, awareness, and partnership between law enforcement and the youth sector. By addressing the root causes of crime and equipping young individuals with the necessary tools to make a difference, the program empowers them as agents of positive change in their communities. Through active participation, KKK encourages youth to take part in community safety initiatives, cultivates values of leadership and responsibility, and strengthens police-community relationships.
Further strengthening the event was the participation of representatives from various agencies, including the 903rd Brigade of the Philippine Army, led by Sgt. Leo Francisco (INF) PA, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Regional Office V (PDEA ROV), led by Ms. Medelyn C. Garduque, IO IV, Provincial Officer. Also present was Mr. Franco Eric Ravanilla, Provincial Administrator of Sorsogon. Their support highlights the collaborative effort of different sectors in empowering the youth to become advocates for peace and crime prevention.
Following its successful launch in Sorsogon, the same initiative is set to be introduced in other Police Provincial Offices (PPOs) and City Police Offices (CPOs) across the Bicol Region. This expansion aims to reach more young individuals, ensuring that they, too, are equipped with the knowledge and resources to actively contribute to crime prevention and community safety.
Through this initiative, PRO5 reaffirms its commitment to engaging and empowering the youth as “Guardians of Peace.” By instilling in them a strong sense of responsibility and community ownership, the KKK program paves the way for a future where young individuals play a key role in crime prevention and in fostering a safer, more peaceful society.
