The Police Regional Office 5 (PRO 5), under the strong leadership of PBGEN NESTOR C BABAGAY JR., Regional Director, has heightened its security measures and intensified efforts to trace and prosecute those responsible for the recent bomb threats that have disrupted schools and communities in the Bicol Region.

These malicious and baseless threats, which aim to sow fear and disrupt public order, have further prompted PRO 5 to enhance its operational readiness and strengthen coordination with concerned law enforcement agencies, intelligence units, and local government partners to ensure the swift and decisive resolution of these incidents.

“These bomb threats are not a joke — they are deliberate acts of fearmongering that endanger public safety and disturb the lives of our students and educators. We are resolute in our mission to identify those responsible and bring them before the bar of justice. Anyone proven to be involved will face the full force of the law”, said PBGen Babagay Jr. “

To ensure a comprehensive response, PRO 5 has intensified security operations focusing on monitoring, investigation, and threat assessment. Specialized police units are working closely with the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 5 (RACU 5) and other partner agencies to track the sources of these threats and prevent future occurrences.

Additionally, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams are on full alert and ready to respond immediately to any reports of suspicious packages or threats. These teams are fully equipped and trained to assess, neutralize, and secure potential explosive hazards, ensuring the safety of schools and communities in Bicol.

PRO 5 strongly condemns all acts intended to spread panic and fear. Such actions are unlawful and undermine the peace, stability, and sense of security that the PNP is sworn to protect.

PBGen Babagay Jr also appealed to the public for cooperation and vigilance.

“We urge our communities to remain calm and alert. Report any suspicious messages, calls, or individuals directly to the authorities. We also remind the public to refrain from sharing or forwarding unverified information online. Spreading false or unconfirmed reports only fuels unnecessary fear and disrupts peace and order. Let us all do our part by relying only on official statements from authorities and verified sources.”

PRO 5 assures the people of Bicol that the police remain fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of every student, teacher, and resident through proactive investigation, visible police presence, and strong partnership with local leaders and institutions.

“We will not allow fear to take hold of our communities. Your police are working tirelessly to maintain peace, protect our children, and ensure that those who seek to disrupt public safety will be held accountable”, he further said.
