The Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) has intensified its disaster preparedness efforts as the Low Pressure Area (LPA) “Jacinto” is expected to bring heavy rains to the Bicol Region.

A total of 538 PNP personnel have been readied to respond—453 from the Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) and 110 from the Search, Rescue, and Retrieval (SRR) Teams—all on standby for immediate deployment to affected areas.

PBGEN NESTOR C BABAGAY JR., Regional Director, PRO 5, directed all unit commanders to sustain close coordination with Local Government Units (LGUs) to determine the need for assistance, particularly in the evacuation of residents from low-lying and flood-prone communities.

He assured the public that the PNP Bicol remains fully prepared and committed to assist, protect, and respond to the needs of communities during emergencies.

In support of these efforts, the Critical Incident Monitoring Action Team (CIMAT) has been activated for 24-hour monitoring of the weather disturbance to ensure prompt action as needed.

“The safety of every Bicolano is our utmost priority. Your police are always ready to serve, protect, and respond whenever disaster strikes,” PBGEN Babagay Jr., stressed.

The public is strongly advised to remain vigilant, observe safety protocols, and follow official advisories.
