Despite receiving no government subsidy this year, the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) has sufficient funds to expand its benefits, thanks to the 1.3 percent increase in premiums paid by members since 2024. PhilHealth (PhilHealth Regional Office 5 – Bicol Region) Vice President for Bicol Alberto Manduriao announced this during the signing of a partnership agreement with the Bicol Medical Center (BMC), highlighting that increased collections have allowed the state health insurer to finance the type βZ-Benefitsβ packages.
These packages provide coverage for 20 specified catastrophic illnesses and health conditions that require costly treatments and hospitalizations, Manduriao said.
