A team from the National Library of the Philippines (NLP) visited Iriga City on May 5, 2026, as part of the agency’s onsite public library visit program to its affiliated public libraries across the country. The team, together with City Librarian Flora Veneranda A. Salvadora, paid a courtesy call on Mayor Rex C. Oliva before proceeding to the Iriga City Public Library for the onsite assessment, a visit that speaks to the growing recognition of the library’s role as one of the city’s key institutions for public service and community development.
The NLP team, composed of Mr. Chad Aren E. Diaz, Librarian III, and Ms. Amy Felice P. Butago, Librarian II, from the Public Libraries Division (PLD), conducted an onsite assessment of the Iriga City Public Library covering its physical collections and inventory, site conditions, operations, administration, and library services. The visit is part of the NLP’s data-gathering efforts aimed at guiding local government units in further improving their public libraries and strengthening the agency’s technical assistance to affiliated libraries across the country. For the City Government of Iriga, the assessment is a welcome opportunity to identify areas for growth and to ensure that the library continues to meet the evolving needs of its constituents.
Under the city government’s support, the Iriga City Public Library has been active not only in its core library services but also in bringing programs directly to communities, reflecting a commitment to making knowledge and learning accessible to every Irigueño. The NLP’s visit reaffirms this shared vision, strengthening the partnership between the city government and the national agency in building a library that truly serves its people.
