Iriga City had the honor of serving as the host venue today, May 1, 2026, for the IECEP Regional Summit 2026: Governance, AI, and Industry Transformation held at the Iriga City Sports Center.
The summit, organized by the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) – Bicol Chapter, brought together professionals to discuss national and local priorities such as digital transformation, smart governance, and disaster resilience.
Led by the 2025 IECEP Bicol Officers and Board of Directors, headed by Governor Engr. Jilbert M. Novelero, the activity coincided with the official visit of the Professional Regulatory Board of Electronics Engineering (PRB-ECE). The presence of Hon. Vicente Cejoco, Hon. Adonis Talabo, and Hon. Gerhard Tan from the PRB-ECE provided a valuable platform for policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, and inter-agency collaboration.
On behalf of Mayor Rex C. Oliva, Vice Mayor Edsel S. Dimaiwat delivered the welcoming address to the delegates and guests. He thanked the organization for choosing Iriga City as the setting for this regional gathering, highlighting that the city’s efforts to prepare the Iriga City Sports Center reflect its commitment to supporting professional growth and promoting the city as a capable host for significant events.
In his message, Vice Mayor Dimaiwat acknowledged the vital contributions of electronics engineers to our modern society and their role in technical advancement. As the event took place on Labor Day, he also paid tribute to the dedication of the Filipino workforce, noting that the technical expertise of professionals like engineers is essential to the industries that sustain the nation’s economy.
Adding a touch of local culture to the professional gathering, the Iriga City LGU Folkloric Dance Troupe showcased a vibrant performance, welcoming the delegates with the grace and traditional spirit of the Irigueño people.
