Iriga City is taking decisive action in its flood mitigation efforts, following a recent follow-up meeting with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-DEO5) and the National Irrigation Administration – Rinconada Integrated Irrigation System (NIA-RIIS).
This meeting, held in close collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Iriga City, aimed to evaluate progress and reaffirm commitments established during the initial coordination meeting last July 4, 2025 at CMO Conference Room.
The Office of the City Engineer, presented a detailed report showcasing the swift accomplishments of the LGU within just a week of the initial meeting. Key achievements include aggressive desilting operations, thorough canal clearing, and efficient removal of solid waste from major waterways in critical flood-prone areas.
These operations have continued unwaveringly, even amid challenging weather conditions. Both DPWH and NIA provided vital updates on their respective jurisdictions, aligning their strategies with the LGU’s dynamic efforts.
Mayor Rex C. Oliva reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the city is fully prepared for the rainy season. He stressed that while long-term infrastructure projects are underway, the significance of continual community engagement, proactive maintenance, and immediate response measures must not be overlooked.
