The City Government of Iriga, through the City Engineering Office, continues its proactive desilting and drainage clearing operations in key areas in the central business district. These activities form part of the LGU’s long-standing flood mitigation program, which has been in motion even before the onset of the rainy season.

With Iriga’s central business district and other low-lying areas historically prone to water accumulation, the regular removal of silt, debris, and blockages from drainage canals is essential to ensure smooth water flow during heavy rains. These efforts support not only physical infrastructure but also the safety and well-being of Irigueños by reducing the risk of flash floods and associated disruptions.

The LGU’s engineering and maintenance teams are deployed in phases across barangays, working systematically to prioritize high-impact zones while maintaining continuous support for outlying communities. These initiatives are complemented by public awareness efforts and coordination with barangay officials to report clogged waterways early.

Through consistent groundwork and a commitment to resilient urban planning, the City Government of Iriga continues to take decisive steps to safeguard communities and strengthen disaster preparedness.
