Camp BGen Simeon A Ola, Legazpi City—A farmer in Masbate was apprehended following the seizure of firearms and ammunition during a search warrant operation conducted by the Masbate Police Provincial Office.
The operation was made at around 5:09 AM on November 25, 2024, in Purok Bagacay, Barangay Cabas-an, Aroroy, Masbate. The subject, identified as alias “Tim,” a 50-year-old farmer, was found in possession of various firearms and ammunition.
These include one homemade/improvised 12-gauge shotgun without a trademark or serial number, one caliber .45 pistol with the trademark “INFINITY” and serial number 938191, one steel magazine for a caliber .45 pistol, nine live ammunition for a 12-gauge shotgun, ten live ammunition for a caliber .22 firearm, one slug for a caliber .45 pistol, and empty shells for both a caliber .45 pistol and a 12-gauge shotgun.
The operation was a joint effort of personnel from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Masbate PFU (lead unit), Regional Intelligence Unit 5/Provincial Intelligence Team 5, 94th Special Action Company of the 9th Special Action Battalion, Masbate Maritime Police Station, and Aroroy Municipal Police Station.
This operation is part of the intensified campaign of PRO5 against loose firearms, aimed at curbing the proliferation of illegal weapons. By proactively removing unregistered and unauthorized firearms from circulation, the unit seek to prevent potential crimes and ensure the safety and security of local communities.
