Fire safety is a marathon, not a sprint—and on March 28, 2026, the spirit of resilience was on full display. The City Government of Iriga, in close coordination with the Iriga City Fire Station led by FCINSP Jun Jen P. Novela, successfully brought the community together for the Fire Prevention Month Culminating Fun Run.

Under the theme “Every Step Counts in Fire Safety,” more than 600 participants hit the pavement to prove that prevention starts with active participation. We were honored to welcome not only our fellow Irigueños but also runners from our neighboring municipalities, showing that when it comes to safety and unity, our boundaries disappear.

Leading by example, Board Member Bruno Oliva and Councilor Melnan R. Murallo-Asanza joined the hundreds of runners on the route and took part in the awarding ceremony, standing in solidarity with our participants.

With the steadfast support of Mayor Rex C. Oliva, this event transformed a serious life-saving mission into a morning of fitness and shared responsibility.

This success was fueled by the true spirit of bayanihan. We extend our gratitude to SM Supermalls for the special award prizes, Converge for the iconic inflatable arc, and the Iriga City Water District for keeping our runners hydrated and energized.

When we run together, we stay safe together. Thank you to every runner who took a step toward building a faster, stronger, and more resilient city.
