Iriga: DSWD Bicol continues food redemption under the Walang Gutom Program

From January 23 to 24, 2025, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V – Bicol Region conducted another round of food redemptions in the municipalities of Malinao, Tiwi, Tabaco City, and Rapu-Rapu, Albay under the Walang Gutom Program. This initiative aims to improve nutrition and food security for the province’s most vulnerable sectors.

The program prioritizes senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and single parents – groups at high risk of food insecurity and malnutrition. A total of 1,043 households benefited from this effort, receiving food packs to help sustain their daily nutritional needs.

The Breakdown per City and Municipalities are as follows:

Malinao: 131 Households
Tiwi: 298 Households
Tabaco: 359 Households
Rapu-Rapu: 255 Households

Through the Walang Gutom Program, DSWD Bicol remains committed to fighting hunger and malnutrition while promoting sustainable food systems and ensuring that no Filipinos is left behind in the journey toward food security and resilience.
