More than 400 internally displaced persons affected by Mayon Volcano’s ongoing activity received free healthcare services and medical supplies through a Department of Health outreach mission in Camalig.

The Department of Health, led by Undersecretary Glenn Matthew Baggao and OIC Bicol Regional Director Dr. Rosa Maria Rempillo, launched the “PuroKalusugan – Alagang Pangkalusugan sa Evacuation Center” program in partnership with the Provincial Government of Albay through the Albay Provincial Health Office and the Local Government Unit of Camalig.

The medical mission benefited 123 families or 435 individuals from Barangay Anoling, along with 65 individuals from Barangay Tagaytay.

The Albay Provincial Health Office Mobile Primary Care Facility Van provided free diagnostic services including X-rays, ultrasounds, urinalysis, complete blood counts, and electrocardiograms.

Health service booths also conducted orientations on water, sanitation and hygiene, cancer awareness, nutrition, tuberculosis and HIV education, safe motherhood, immunization, and non-communicable diseases.

Barangay Anoling Captain Mia N. Alemania thanked the health department for providing free consultations, medicines, and medical equipment for displaced residents.

The Department of Health also turned over medical supplies to the Camalig Rural Health Unit to support ongoing health monitoring in evacuation centers.
