Children aged nine to fourteen received Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine during the Cervical Cancer Elimination Summit held on May 20, 2026 in Naga City, Camarines Sur.
The ceremonial vaccination was administered by the Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Dr. Glenn Mathew G. Baggao, DOH Bicol OIC Regional Director Dr. Rosa Maria B. Rempillo, Dr. Grace B. Lao, the Regional Director of the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (POGS), Medical Center Chief of the Bicol Medical Center Dr. Ronnie Gigantone III, and the Local Government Unit of Naga led by Hon. Maria Leonor G. Robredo and its City Health Officer Dr. Ronaldo T. Amoranto.
The activity is central to the LGU’s long-term vision of achieving a cervical cancer-free Naga by making vaccination, along with screening, early detection, and treatment more equitably accessible to Nagueños.
A key highlight as well was the ceremonial pledge of commitment where health organizations, local officials, academic institutions, and media partners united to sign their declaration of support.
Overall, the summit became a platform to bolster institutional support and guarantee that life-saving healthcare services for women across ages remain a top priority (DOH5/MJLCB).
