To proactively address evolving cyber threats within the healthcare sector, the Department of Health, through the Knowledge Management and Information Technology Service (KMITS), in collaboration with the DOH Bicol Center for Health Development (CHD) Information Technology Unit, spearheads a “Cybersecurity Training on Active Directory Domain Services” as a means to present practical procedures and best practices on network security and cyber risk assessment to strengthen digital resilience of local healthcare systems.

The activity pooled IT personnel from the different DOH CHDs and partner hospitals across the Philippines to introduce core concepts on network security tools and solutions, including managing user access, resources, and security policies.

The activity commenced with an opening message from the DOH Bicol CHD Regional Director, Dr. Melissa T. Sena, where she placed emphasis on the significant distractions in healthcare services involving cybersecurity: compromised patient data, malfunctioning medical equipment, and operational downtime.

As such, this undertaking strives to equip the participants and increase their proficiency on Active Directory and Domain Services to achieve improved cybersecurity preparedness of all DOH units to safeguard sensitive data.

Dr. Sena also reminded the participants to echo their key takeaways from this learning intervention to ensure that relevant industry regulations and standards are properly implemented.

This hands-on training is being led by Mr. Mark Anthony David, a Microsoft Certified Trainer and the Team Lead Data from Plus IT Solutions.

The training shall run until May 23, 2025 at the Vela Hotel, Legazpi City where participants are also expected to better identify, understand, and mitigate digital vulnerabilities, breaches, and other potential threats to protected data.
