Iriga: DENR Bicol champions safe spaces to kickstart Women’s Month

To kickstart the 2024 Women’s Month Celebration, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol conducted a short discussion on Republic Act (RA) No. 11313 during the Monday Convocation Program, yesterday March 4, 2024, at DENR Regional Office V, Lobby, Rawis, Legazpi City.

Atty. Ma. Elena A. Millano, a Professor at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Legazpi – College of Law provided an overview about RA 11313. DENR Bicol’s key officials, along with the regional and line bureau employees, attended the event.

In her message, Atty. Millano emphasized the importance of RA 11313. “It is important to ensure that everyone, regardless of gender, feels safe and respected in both public and private spaces.” she said.

RA 11313 also known as “Safe Spaces Act” or “Bawal Bastos Law” aims to ensure equality, security, and safety of every individual, in both private and public spaces, including online and in workplaces.

The DENR Bicol headed by Regional Executive Director (RED) Francisco E. Milla, Jr. emphasizes the importance of understanding RA 11313 in the workplace. “It is crucial for everyone to recognize the significance of RA 11313 to ensure that respect thrives in the workplace, especially in the DENR,” RED Milla said.
